Hi, my name is George and the owner of Deep Bay Kayaking. I moved from the mainland to Vancouver Island in 2016 and started Deep Bay Kayaking. This was a dream that started back in 2010 while I was vacationing in Deep Bay. Even back then I realized that this area around Deep Bay, Denman Island and Hornby Island provided the ideal place to introduce people to the sport of Sea Kayaking. This area has sheltered waters, sandy beaches wildlife and terrific scenery.
In 2013 I became a Paddle Canada Level 1 Instructor and started training members of PIKA, a kayaking club based in Langley BC. In 2017 I acquired my Paddle Canada Level 2 Instructor certification with Dave Nichols owner of Blue Dog Kayaking. I also should mention that I have been a Paddle Canada Rolling Instructor since 2014. Teaching people the sport of kayaking, so that they can enjoy their time on the water is very satisfying to me. Here on the BC Coast, there are always so many places to explore .
About a year after starting kayaking I started using the Greenland paddle, mainly due some Campbell River paddlers visiting the Deep Bay area. I soon realized the advantages of using the Greenland paddle and started carving my own paddles. Those first paddles I gave away to my kayak buddies and they are still using them today. Now I am selling custom made paddles here on this website and teaching people how to use them properly.
